Brentford 'doing everything' to block Kevin Schade joining Liverpool

Brentford are prepared to do everything in their power to block Kevin Schade from joining Liverpool in 2027.

The 24-year-old has caught the eye after a number of outstanding displays for Brentford, not just in the early stages of this season, but since his arrival from Freiburg in 2023.

Liverpool are among a number of clubs believed to have sent scouts to watch the wide man, with the position remaining a priority for Andoni Iraola's side.

However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Brentford will not let Schade leave easily, and hope to tie him down to a new contract.

Despite suggestions that they could be tempted to sell as they have done with star players previously, Keith Andrews views the Germany international as a key part of his plans.

It would take a serious offer from Liverpool to tempt the West London club into negotiations, and they instead hope he will pen a long-term deal to deter interest from elsewhere.

Could Liverpool make a move to sign Kevin Schade?

Brown told Football Insider on 28 September that Liverpool scouts have been keeping an eye on Schade and have been very impressed by what they have seen.

He has scored three goals and provided one assist in five Premier League games so far this season, while his direct style and pace make him the ideal fit for Liverpool.

Liverpool are not the only club interested, but could be tempted to make a move in the January transfer window, and Brentford are now preparing to ward off the interest.

"The problem for Liverpool is, Brentford aren't going to let him go easily," Brown told Football Insider.

"He's such an important player in that side, such an important part of what they're doing, so they're not going to want to lose him, especially not in the January window.

"Obviously, we've seen it from Brentford before, they let their best players go for big fees and then they replace them with somebody who turns out to be better.

"But they can't get away with doing that all the time, sometimes they have to keep hold of their best players, and they will be doing everything in their power to keep Schade.

"The talk is that they want to offer him a new contract, and that would make sense to ward off the interest. It's certainly something I expect they are working on."

Which other clubs are interested in Schade?

Despite Brentford's reluctance to let him go, a number of clubs in the Premier League and across Europe are believed to have taken note of Schade's performances.

His strong start to the new season has placed clubs on alert, and it is not just Liverpool who are plotting a move to lure him away in January.

Football Insider revealed on 26 September that Arsenal are also keeping a close eye on Schade and have been impressed by the stats behind his excellent form.

The Gunners are determined to strengthen out wide after losing key options on the wing during the summer, with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard both moving on.

Despite links with some huge names including Vinicius Junior, Schade has been identified as a key target for the position and somebody who would strengthen this Arsenal side.
