Conor Gallagher key to Liverpool agreeing midfield transfer after bid submitted
Curtis Jones will be forced into staying at Liverpool if his asking price is not met, sources have told Football Insider.
Inter Milan are interested in the English midfielder, who is open to a move to the San Siro, and have submitted a verbal bid.
The Serie A giants have seen their £22m offer for the 25-year-old rejected by the Merseyside giants as they hold out for a higher fee.
Jones is being valued at around £33million at Anfield, in line with what Tottenham Hotspur paid to sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid in the winter transfer window.
The Merseyside outfit are using the former Chelsea star's sale as their benchmark for setting the price tag on their academy graduate.
Jones' future remains uncertain, but Andoni Iraola may end up keeping him in L4 if Inter aren't able to agree on terms with the Anfield hierarchy.
Curtis Jones transfer update emerges at Liverpool
Liverpool are expected to cash in on Jones for around £33m, with his current contract expiring in June 2027.
The midfielder wasn't Arne Slot's first choice in the 2025-26 campaign, starting in just 18 Premier League matches, with Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister, as well as the versatile Dominik Szoboszlai, ahead in the pecking order.
Source says Inter will have to come close to the Reds' price tag with their official proposal to get a deal over the line for Jones.
The England international isn't part of Thomas Tuchel's squad for the 2026 World Cup but is still clearly valued highly by those at Anfield, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for him in the coming weeks.
Anfield transfer plans make Curtis Jones exit stance clear
Sources told Football Insider on 20 June that Liverpool are expected to back Iraola with a late transfer "blitz" this summer and signing a new midfielder is on the agenda.
The Reds certainly need more bodies in the area to back up the likes of Gravenberch, Mac Allister and Wataru Endo, especially if they are going to lose Jones to Inter.
It looks like the Merseyside outfit already have plans in place to replace the English midfielder and fans in L4 will surely be anticipating the addition of a quality specialist number six in the engine room after their struggles this season.
