Ismaila Sarr has already admitted that he would love to play for Liverpool in an interview conducted while he was still a Watford player.

The Reds have submitted a £50million bid for the Crystal Palace winger after pulling out of a deal for Yankuba Minteh, who was considered too expensive.

The 28-year-old will have little re-sale value, but with 21 goals across all competitions last season, is far more ready to make an impact.

Liverpool's opening £50m bid has reportedly been turned down by Crystal Palace, and it remains to be seen just how much would be accepted.

Sarr has three years remaining on his contract but is reportedly keen to leave Selhurst Park this summer, and had been in talks to join Galatasaray.

Liverpool also remain in talks for PSG winger Bradley Barcola, as they attempt to complete several deals before next week's deadline.

What Ismaila Sarr said in 2020

Sarr joined Palace from Marseille in 2024, but he was already a well-known quantity in the Premier League from his days with Watford.

The winger had joined the Hornets from Stade Rennais in a deal worth nearly £30m in 2019, but could not prevent them from being relegated.

He played a key role as they came straight back up and then back down again, leaving in 2023 to join Marseille but returning to England after just a year.

Sarr has since enjoyed the best period of his career, thriving as Palace have won the FA Cup and the Conference League in the last year.

But he is now keen to move on, and would undoubtedly make the move to Liverpool. "Liverpool are a really great team, everyone would love to play there," he said in a 2020 interview with Sans Limites.

“They won the Premier League this year and the Champions League last year. But there are other great teams in the English league.

"Frankly, I have yet to make a choice. If I am to leave, I just hope it is for a good team. At the moment, it is just guesswork.”

Just months before his quotes, Sarr had played his part in an extraordinary game against Liverpool at Vicarage Road.
