Liverpool fans were appalled to see that the club has submitted a £50million bid for Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr.

Reports emerged on Wednesday that the Reds have opened talks to sign the 28-year-old winger before the transfer window closes.

The Senegal international is keen on the move as Andoni Iraola looks to improve his options out wide.

This news comes amid reports that Liverpool have called off their pursuit of Brighton and Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh.

Nevertheless, the Anfield faithful are far from impressed with the rumoured bid, believing that it is the club simply panicking late in the window.

Liverpool are yet to sign a sufficient replacement for Mohamed Salah, who departed the club at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Liverpool fans do not want Ismaila Sarr to sign

Sarr has no doubt been one of the best players at Crystal Palace in recent years.

Last season alone, he netted 21 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions, which helped the Eagles win the Conference League.

However, with Liverpool searching for a replacement for Salah, Sarr being his potential replacement would certainly be underwhelming for many supporters.

As a result, when Fabrizio Romano posted that the Reds had submitted an offer, fans were furious and were quick to slam the club as transfer deadline day edges closer.

Is Sarr good enough to make an impact at Liverpool?

While the signing of Sarr may not excite many of the Anfield faithful, there is plenty to suggest that he could become a hit.

When examining his 2026 World Cup display, the winger was one of the best performers in the competition as Senegal reached the round of 32.

According to Fotmob on 26 August, Sarr averaged 0.98 goals, a 0.91 xG, 4.18 shots, 1.48 shots on target, 0.25 assists, a 0.07 xA and 1.23 chances created.

Therefore, if he can do this on the biggest stage in the world, there is every chance he could repeat it in competitions such as the Champions League.

However, it remains to be seen if Liverpool are able to get a deal over the line for the attacker in the coming days, with the 1 September deadline closing in.
