Milos Kerkez is falling under the radar as one of Liverpool's worst performers of the season.

The Hungarian fullback has had big expectations at Anfield, but has yet to truly take off.

There was anticipation that under Andoni Iraola, the defender could be sparked into life.

After all, his best form in England came under the Spanish manager back at Bournemouth - displays that initially earned him his big move.

But while the form of Florian Wirtz and possibly new signing Bradley Barcola will be the main name on people's lips, Kerkez should be included among the concerns.

Against Manchester City, the 22-year-old was completely ineffective, and Iraola has a decision to make over his future in the starting XI.

How Milos Kerkez embarrassed himself at Anfield vs Man City

High-flying fullbacks have often been associated with Liverpool, but Kerkez could be heading towards already being replaced.

While defensively Kerkez proved to be solid - winning five out of six ground duels - the Reds were lacking quality moving forward with their wide defenders.

The Hungarian is a large part of that, with his 0 per cent accuracy from two crosses, according to FotMob, compounding that fact.

Additionally, he often failed at switching the play, an aspect of football that can open up space on the opposite wing to attack.

In four long passes attempted, he also failed to succeed with a single one. Showcasing his ineffectiveness in going forward.

More embarrassingly, Man City's goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma also outperformed him in line-breaking passes.

The Italian completed six compared to Kerkez' five on Sunday at Anfield.

Not exactly a positive outcome for a defender known for being an offensive outlet.

Why Andoni Iraola has more than one other option at left-back

Kostas Tsimikas is the obvious choice to come in for Kerkez amid his poor form.

The Greek is a natural left-back and is also known for being solid going forward as well.

However, Joe Gomez could be a surprise choice for Iraola, allowing the Reds to be more defensively sound at the back.

The Englishman has often filled in at right-back, and left-back is not new territory for him either.

At Liverpool, as per Transfermarkt, Gomez has played 31 times as a left-sided fullback.

However, his last appearance there came in the 2024-25 season against Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
