Liverpool to sign 'another winger' amid 'extraordinary' twist - expert

Liverpool are far from done in the current summer transfer window despite being about to land Bradley Barcola's signature.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that a second winger signing is on the radar at Anfield.

Andoni Iraola already has a plethora of left-wing options, with Barcola set to join Rio Ngumoha, Victor Munoz and Cody Gakpo.

There is so much competition that Ngumoha, the 17-year-old, has been switched to the opposite flank as an experiment on Merseyside this term.

Just four days remain until the transfer market slams shut, but it is expected that the Reds will get a lot more business done in that time.

In addition to the deal for Jeremy Jacquet, Liverpool have signed Munoz from Osasuna and Ronald Araujo on loan, leaving fans extremely underwhelmed.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has predicted another winger signing at Anfield despite Barcola arriving for £120million [The Guardian].

"It wouldn't surprise me. I think there's a lot of scrambling around, particularly Man City, Liverpool, the major clubs," he said.

"Most of the business, I think, from the major clubs is still going to be done at City and Liverpool. There's a good chance that they'll try and buy another player.

"They clearly want another winger. It's extraordinary what's happened at the very top of the game this summer.

"Liverpool will buy their third £100m-player in 12 months. It's been an amazing, amazing window really."

Which other wingers are Liverpool targeting?

It was understood that a deal for Brighton's Yankuba Minteh was progressing, but Football Insider revealed that the move has now collapsed.

The 22-year-old's injury added another layer of difficulty to an already-expensive transfer, and that would be on top of an eye-watering move for Barcola.

Crystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr is another option, but Pierre Sage's team are standing strong on their stance that the winger is not for sale this summer.

Earlier in the window, Michael Olise and Yan Diomande had been listed as dream targets, but it would appear that both deals are now dead in the water.
