Sources: FC Groningen set sights on Liverpool sensation Kieran Morrison
Liverpool sensation Kieran Morrison is a loan target for Dutch side FC Groningen, sources have told Football Insider.
The Eredivisie outfit have identified the 19-year-old forward as a leading target after a pre-season campaign in which he impressed Andoni Iraola and scored his first senior goal.
Morrison is extremely highly regarded at Anfield, but will be allowed to leave on loan before the end of the window as he hopes to gain experience in senior football.
After impressing with his pre-season performances, Iraola has high hopes for the winger's future, and Groningen hope the offer of regular football will help lure him away.
Morrison has already made two senior appearances for Liverpool and is a full Northern Ireland international, with the belief now that he is ready for a step up.
His current contract at Anfield is set to run until 2030 after he put pen to paper on an extension in May, with the club holding high hopes for his long-term development.
Why are Groningen interested in signing Kieran Morrison?
Morrison has emerged as one of the brightest young talents at Liverpool in the last couple of seasons, and his recent involvement at first-team level has placed clubs on alert.
Given the current options in Iraola's side, the teenager will find it difficult to play regular minutes at senior level, and plans are now in place to let him leave on loan.
Having impressed during Liverpool's pre-season tour, there is growing interest from a number of clubs across Europe, and the Eredivisie would be seen as an ideal destination.
Groningen are currently lacking natural wingers in their squad, and believe Morrison would be well-placed to play regular minutes should they get a deal over the line.
The club have previously produced high-profile wingers including the likes of Dusan Tadic, Ritsu Doan and most notably Arjen Robben, and Morrison could now be next.

Despite already being some way down the pecking order given his age and lack of experience, there is a chance Morrison could be pushed further from regular first-team minutes.
