Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister could have his head turned from interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who states that Real Madrid will be looking to sign the 27-year-old in the summer.

Mac Allister has started 24 of Liverpool's 29 Premier League games this season, highlighting his importance to Arne Slot's team.

Liverpool could face departures in the summer transfer window, with Dominik Szoboszlai having also been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Alexis Mac Allister 'interested' in Real Madrid move

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs - believes Mac Allister is more likely to join Real Madrid than Szoboszlai.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes it is "early days" in any deal being agreed.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, last week we talked about Szoboszlai going to Real Madrid, and now we've got McAllister going to Real Madrid.

"It seems like they're Real Madrid reserves at the moment. I do think McAllister could be interested in Real Madrid. I think that's one that's got more legs than Szoboszlai.

"And I think that may be something that they will at least be talking about right now. Still early days in terms of the agents making their move, but Real Madrid are definitely going to be making their move."

Liverpool boosted in Micky van de Ven pursuit

Sources have told Football Insider that Barcelona may have to pull out of the race to sign Micky van de Ven, meaning Liverpool have been given more encouragement to sign the Tottenham defender.

Centre-back is a key position which Liverpool are targeting reinforcements in the summer window, with van de Ven likely to leave Spurs.

The 24-year-old could be a replacement for Ibrahima Konate, who is set to depart Anfield at the expiry of his contract.
