Sources: Jarell Quansah to Liverpool update amid new 'buy-back' reveal
Liverpool are continuing to "keep tabs" on their former defender Jarell Quansah ahead of their buy-back clause expiring next summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 23-year-old has excelled since leaving Anfield to join Bayer Leverkusen back in 2025, and is now attracting interest from both Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Liverpool still retain the option to buy their former star back for £59.5million, but they now face a race against time to trigger that clause before it expires on 15 June 2027.
Sources say that a move to bring Quansah back to Merseyside is not part of the Reds' plans at the moment, although they will continue to track him in the coming months.
The youngster has now become a regular England international, and quickly became a crucial part of Leverkusen's defence last season.
Liverpool are weighing up their options defensively ahead of the upcoming transfer windows, but Qaunsah is not part of their immediate plans.
Concern raised behind Jarell Quansah return
Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for Quansah in the latter stages of last season, but ultimately didn't act on their interest in the summer.
While the former academy graduate still has plenty of admirers at Anfield, the finances behind a potential return have raised concerns in recent months.
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider back in March that he would be "very surprised" if Liverpool ever opt to take up their buy-back option for Quansah.
Leverkusen paid £35m to sign Quansah ahead of last season, and Borson outlined that Liverpool would have essentially paid around £25m to loan him out for 18 months if they opted to bring him back.
The football finance expert has serious doubts as to whether a deal will actually happen, and pointed to the fact that many buy-back clauses are never actually triggered.
Quansah also looks set to have plenty of other options on the table for him in the next 12 months, as his stock has risen consistently of late.
Liverpool plan Michael Olise move
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on Monday that Liverpool will be "all over" a move for Michael Olise if the chance arises next summer.
The France international is locked in a contract dispute at Bayern Munich, and Brown believes that his exit could be "on the cards" next summer.
The ex-recruitment man also outlined that the 24-year-old ticks the box of being proven in the Premier League, having previously excelled for Crystal Palace.
Olise's time in the Bundesliga has seen him evolve into one of the most exciting players in world football, and he could let be plying his trade at Anfield next term.
