Sources: Liverpool in hunt to sign Joao Gomes as price tag revealed
Liverpool are weighing up a move to sign Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Andoni Iraola is looking for options to strenghthen his hand in the middle of the park, and the Brazilian is seen as a "viable" candidate at Anfield.
The Reds view the 25-year-old as being an "ideal" option for them due to his strong experience of playing Premier League football.
Sources have also indicated that he could be available for as little as £30million following Wolves' relegation, rather than the £40m price tag from previous windows.
Gomes is keen to continue playing Premier League football, but is not understood to have a preference between a move to Liverpool or Manchester United, who are also big admirers.
Iraola wants to add at least one new centre midfielder to his group ahead of the start of the season, and Gomes is a clear candidate at the moment.
Liverpool facing battle for Joao Gomes
Football Insider revealed on Monday that Man United are ready to turn their attention towards Gomes after they get their move for Aston Villa's Youri Tielemans over the line.
The Red Devils have triggered the Belgian's release clause, and have already reached an agreement with the player and his camp.
Their move for Tielemans comes as part of a major midfield rebuild at Old Trafford, with Andrey Santos already joining from Chelsea.
Michael Carrick and Co. have designs on Gomes becoming the third and final addition of their central revamp, but they will have to fend off the interest from Liverpool.
With Curtis Jones increasingly likely to move elsewhere in the coming weeks, the Merseysiders will need to replace him, and Gomes is seen as a cost-effective option.
The former Flamengo man missed just three games in the Premier League last term, and was a standout performer in Wolves' dismal campaign.
Liverpool pushing to sign World Cup wonderkid
Football Insider revealed last week that Liverpool are keen to sign Mexican sensation Gilberto Mora this summer.
The 17-year-old played a big role for Mexico at the World Cup, and is currently being tracked by several members of European football's elite.
The attacking midfielder notched six goals and one assist in 20 games for Tijuana in the Mexican top flight last term, and holds the record as the youngest-ever player for both his club and his country.
Mora is seen as one of the brightest young talents in world football at the moment, and Liverpool's recruitment team have him in their sights.
