Sources: Liverpool ready £40m move for record-breaking 17-yr-old
Liverpool will need to spend up to £40million to sign Mexican wonderkid Gilberto Mora, sources have told Football Insider.
Tijuana are set to demand at least £30m to even entertain selling the 17-year-old starlet, whose price tag could yet rise up to the £40m mark.
Mora is also being tracked by the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG, leaving Tijauna well-placed to secure a huge fee for the attacking midfielder.
Sources say that the Liga MX side are also keen to include several clauses as part of any exit for Mora, to ensure they can profit from him further down the line.
Liverpool are long-term admirers of the starlet, who is widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents in the world.
Mora recently broke the record to become the youngest ever goalscorer for Mexico's senior national team, when he netted the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Colombia last weekend.
When will Gilberto Mora move to Europe?
Mora has firmly established himself as one of the leading young stars in world football, after a World Cup that saw him burst onto the world stage.
However, his age has been a barrier for the top European clubs, who are unable to sign him until he turns 18 on 14 October.
Football Insider revealed on Monday that it will be "difficult" for Liverpool to sign Mora in January due to the level of competition and the finances that would be required.
Instead, sources have indicated that Tijuana are ready to move their star man on next summer, when they believe his stock will be at its highest.
They are keen to cash in on Mora while his value remains strong, and are ready to play the market off against itself at the end of the season.
Liverpool are firmly part of the race for the starlet's signature, but they are well aware that it will not be easy to land him.
Liverpool set sights on Kevin Schade
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on Monday that Liverpool are set to chase a deal to sign Brentford winger Kevin Schade in January.
The ex-recruitment man outlined that Andoni Iraola is keen to strengthen his wide options, and has been impressed by the German's recent displays.
Brown made it clear that Liverpool have had scouts watching Schade in recent weeks, and intend to continue tracking him ahead of the winter window.
The 24-year-old notched eight goals and three assists in the Premier League last term, and already has three goals from his opening five league games in 2026-27.
