Yan Diomande could join Liverpool for around £87million this summer but they are hoping to negotiate a lower fee with RB Leipzig.

Diomande is Liverpool's number one right winger target to replace the outgoing Mo Salah ahead of the summer transfer window.

He has burst onto the scene with an impressive debut campaign at Leipzig this season that has brought him to the attention of several top clubs.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, the Reds may be forced to shell out over £80m to land Diomande ahead of the competition this summer.

Liverpool plan to sign new attackers before next season to aid their struggling strike force and provide cover for the injured Hugo Ekitike.

Diomande displayed his quality with a third goal contribution in as many games for Leipzig last Friday, as he assisted Ridle Baku in a 3-1 win over Union Berlin.

Liverpool hope that their pre-existing relationship with the Bundesliga side will give them an advantage in negotiations, and remain keen to lower his price tag as Leipzig demand around £87m for the 19-year-old.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Liverpool are hoping they can get this deal done early.

"Leipzig are holding out for a huge figure of around £87million to try and get a deal done.

"It seems Liverpool could be willing to go to that level, but are hoping they can maybe negotiate a lower fee than that as well."

Liverpool eyeing surprise Randal Kolo Muani move

Liverpool are hunting a bargain striker signing this summer, with Ekitike likely to be out injured for around nine months with a serious achilles injury.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Kolo Muani is on Liverpool's radar ahead of the summer, despite his tough spell at Tottenham.

The Frenchman has only scored five goals in 37 appearances on loan at Spurs from PSG this season, and is set to leave the French giants again this summer.

Liverpool have shortlisted him as a target due to his similar playstyle to Ekitike, but he remains more likely to return to Juventus after a decent loan spell in Turin last season.
