Liverpool’s three-man signing plan revealed as Andoni Iraola to meet with recruitment team

Liverpool’s planned additions for the upcoming summer transfer window will not change once Andoni Iraola becomes their new manager, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds want to bolster their options with the additions of a new left-back, a right-sided winger and a holding midfielder, with the recruitment team already working on finding the correct fits for those roles.

Sources have indicated that Iraola’s appointment at Anfield is now a matter of “when rather than if,” and one of his first tasks will see him sit down and meet with the club’s transfer chiefs.

The manager’s wants and needs will be considered in the coming weeks, but as of yet, there are no plans for the Reds to target any of the Bournemouth stars who secured a sixth-placed finish this term.

Liverpool’s transfer plans have been set for several weeks now, and they will only change if Iraola has a specific requirement that he wants to see fulfilled.

When could Andoni Iraola be announced as Liverpool manager?

Liverpool have moved quickly to line up their appointment of Iraola after the departure of Arne Slot, and it has been clear from the beginning that he is their preferred candidate.

The Spanish boss has been heavily linked with a move to both Crystal Palace and Bayer Leverkusen in recent weeks, but now it is the Merseysiders who are set to win the race for his signature.

The club hierarchy are already in talks with the 43-year-old and his camp, and an appointment is now expected to be just around the corner.

Liverpool are keen to have Iraola officially installed at the helm before the World Cup gets underway on 11 June, meaning that an announcement could potentially even come at some stage later this week.

His move to Anfield is viewed as a formality at this stage, with all parties wanting to make the appointment a reality as quickly as possible.

Reds were at risk of Mohamed Salah ‘confrontation’ with Arne Slot

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Liverpool were at risk of a “confrontation” between Mohamed Salah and Arne Slot on the final day of the season.

He suggested that tensions between the pair could have boiled over had Salah not been selected to start in his final game for the club, as he ultimately notched an assist in their 1-1 draw with Brentford.

The pair had been at odds for large parts of the season, and Wyness feels that Salah could have struggled to contain his anger had he not been given the chance to say goodbye to Anfield.

Instead, the Egyptian left the pitch a guard of honour and a standing ovation when he was substitued, a fitting end for a man who struck over 250 goals during his time with the club.
