Darren Bent has heaped praise on Marcelo Bielsa’s transfer plans as Leeds United try to sign Ryan Kent from Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former England striker believes the Argentine boss has got a superb understanding of his squad and what he needs heading into the Premier League.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard revealed on Friday that Leeds had tabled an offer for the 23-year-old but that it had been swiftly rejected by the Glasgow giants.
🎙️ SG: Ryan (Kent) is a player we admire very much here and we have seen him develop. He is progressing very quickly and is a player we want to keep hold off. We very quickly rejected an opening bid that was nowhere near his valuation.

The Whites already have the liked of Helder Costa, Jack Harrison and Ian Poveda in terms of their wing options ahead of next season.
However, Bent believes Leeds could do with another creative spark who could unlock defences and suggests that Kent could be the answer.
Bent told Football Insider: “Obviously it’s Bielsa understanding they need, potentially, someone like that – I’m not quite sure what’s going on with Benrahma, I know they were linked with him.
“I think Bielsa understands that they’ve got these dogs in there that can work really hard and they’ve got a shape but you do need that bit of extra quality, someone to unlock doors if a game’s tight and add a bit of quality.
“He’s certainly got that Ryan Kent and I understand what Bielsa’s doing. I really like what Bielsa’s doing – he’s identifying his squad, he knows his squad’s very good but they need more and I really like what he’s doing there.”
Kent has already scored two goals in Rangers’ first four Premiership games of the new season.
He has a total of 16 goals and 13 assists under his belt in 80 appearances for the Glasgow giants.
In other Leeds United news, Noel Whelan has been left drooling over a “sexy” new reveal.
