Luca Stephenson: Liverpool gem ready to quit Anfield as Rangers line up summer offer
Luca Stephenson is planning to leave Liverpool when he returns from his loan at Dundee United amid interest from Rangers, sources have told Football Insider.
The 22-year-old had enjoyed an impressive spell at Tannadice Park before suffering a hamstring injury which will have him sidelined until the end of the season.
Rangers scouts are believed to have been keeping a close eye on his situation, and could be alerted to a possible deal as he now plans to leave Anfield.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Stephenson is keen to play regular football and has doubts about whether he will get that at Anfield.
Multiple clubs in Scotland and in England have been made aware of his talents and could be tempted to make move, as Rangers accelerate their transfer plans.

Football Insider revealed last month that Rangers and Celtic are racing to sign Stephenson, with the Scottish giants keeping a close eye on his progress.
However, there is now uncertainty about the strength of that interest as they appear to have backed away from their initial stance regarding a deal.

As he now looks set to leave Liverpool, Stephenson will assess a number of options, with more clubs likely to be placed on alert by his availability.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “He’s somebody that Rangers did look at and were keeping tabs on, Luca Stephenson, due to his form on loan at Dundee United.
“He’s had his season ended by a new injury at Dundee United, but up until then he was having a fine season for the Tannadice club.
“Long-term, Stephenson is ready to leave Liverpool on a permanent basis.
“He wants to find a permanent home and nail down a place in the starting XI on a regular basis as well, and he doesn’t think he will get that at Liverpool.
“So there are a number of clubs on alert and ready to offer him a move away from Anfield.”
Who else is on Rangers’ list of right-back targets?
After James Tavernier announced that he would be leaving Ibrox at the end of the season, Rangers have been forced to assess a number of options at right-back.
Max Aarons is also set to return to Bournemouth following a disappointing loan spell, leaving Dujon Sterling as the only natural right-back in the squad.

Football Insider shared reports on 30 April that Rangers are interested in Koffi Kouao, the Metz right-back who has impressed in Ligue 1 this season.
A number of players are already being considered in his position, with the Ibrox club accelerating plans ahead of Tavernier’s imminent exit.
There is no doubt the captain’s departure will come as a huge blow given his quality on and off the pitch, but plans are being put in place to minimalise the impact.
