Luis Diaz is 'best January signing ever' and will win Champions League for Liverpool - pundit

Luis Diaz is the best January signing of all time and can lead Liverpool to Champions League glory.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “unbelievable” attacker.

Diaz, 25, came on at half-time as Liverpool beat Villarreal 3-2 to progress to the Champions League final on Tuesday (3 May).

The Reds were 2-0 down when the Colombia star entered the fray and scored his side’s second.

This was his fifth goal since moving to Anfield in January.

“What an impact he has made, he must be the best January signing ever,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s only been there a few weeks and he is already one of the key players there.

“You bring him on to change the game in a Champions League semi-final and he actually does it.

“He could have had a couple more goals as well. You have to hand it to the Liverpool recruitment team.

“They have absolutely nailed it again. I think Diaz will play a big role in the last few weeks of the season.

“He just looks too good every time he plays. You would expect him to start in that Champions League final.

“He’s just brilliant, it wouldn’t be a shock if he is the one to score the vital goal in one of the finals Liverpool have.”

Diaz also has three assists in the 21 appearances he has made in the red of Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are next in action against Tottenham on Saturday (7 May).
