Lukas Nmecha: Leeds face summer decision as Dominic Calvert-Lewin competition eyed
Lukas Nmecha will have just one year remaining on his Leeds United contract this summer after signing as a free agent last year.
The striker was snapped up by the Whites after leaving Wolfsburg at the end of his contract, and has enjoyed a positive first season.
Nmecha has scored seven goals across all competitions, despite having featured heavily from the bench, given Dominic Calvert-Lewinโs form.
With Joel Piroe set to leave Elland Road this summer after a season that has seen his game time fall dramatically, Daniel Farke will have a decision to make on Nmecha.
Leeds transfer chiefs will know that their only chance to make a profit off the signing will be in the coming months, unless the 27-year-old is handed a new deal.

Football Insider exclusively revealed in March that Leeds plan to sign a striker to compete with Calvert-Lewin this summer.
Farkeโs front man has enjoyed a superb season since arriving on a free transfer, scoring 14 goals across all competitions and 13 in the Premier League.
| Lukas Nmecha | Stats โ Premier League 2025-26 (per 90) |
| Goals | 0.57 |
| Expected goals (xG) | 0.64 |
| Chances created | 0.66 |
| Fouls won | 1.51 |
| Tackles | 1.04 |
| Duels won | 5.57 |
But Nmecha has popped up with big moments, scoring the winner from the spot against Everton on the opening day, the winner against Fulham in January, and scoring and assisting against Chelsea in February.
But the 27-year-old has never looked ready to surpass Calvert-Lewin in Farkeโs thinking, and he could even take Piroeโs role in the squad next season.
The Dutchman scored 19 goals last season in the Championship, but has played just 218 minutes of Premier League football since promotion was clinched.
Should Leeds sign a new striker to challenge Calvert-Lewin, Nmecha could be set for the same fate. Decisions will await both the German and decision-makers at Elland Road.
Nmecha shows his worth vs Tottenham
There is still an argument that Nmecha should be given a new contract at Leeds, and his performance on Monday provided some good evidence for it.
The 27-year-old came off the bench as the Whites looked to get back in the game, and after Calvert-Lewinโs equaliser, he was vital to the fight that secured the point.
Three tackles, three clearances and a staggering nine duels won in just 27 minutes on the pitch underlined just how hard he worked.
Nmecha almost gave away a penalty when James Maddison went down, but replays showed that the German had got a toe on the ball.
