Lutsharel Geertruida passes Everton audition with flying colours after 100% stats in Sunderland win
Lutsharel Geertruida will surely have left David Moyes thoroughly impressed after he starred as Everton were beaten 3-1 at home by Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.
The Toffees are lining up a summer swoop for the right-back, after the Black Cats recently confirmed that they will not be turning his loan move from RB Leipzig permanent this summer.
Moyes has had scouts watching the Dutchman at the Stadium of Light this season, according to Alan Nixon, and his team are now lining up a potential £20million deal for him ahead of next term.
The right-back position has presented plenty of issues for the Merseysiders over the course of the campaign, and Geertruida is already being lined up as a solution in that department.
A new right-back is a top priority for Everton, and Moyes will surely be licking his lips after what he saw from the 25-year-old firsthand on Sunday.

VISIT THE EVERTON TRANSFER HUBLutsharel Geertruida shuts down Iliman Ndiaye
Geertruida has made 27 appearances for Sunderland in the Premier League this season, meaning their decision not to take up their option to buy him came to the surprise of many.
It has left the door open for Everton to move in and secure a deal for the defender this summer, who doesn’t appear to have a clear route back into the fold at RB Leipzig.
| Stats | Geertruida Totals |
| Accurate Passes | 46/50 (92%) |
| Defensive Contributions | 6 |
| Tackles | 2 |
| Interceptions | 1 |
| Ground Duels Won | 3/3 (100%) |
| Aerial Duels Won | 2/2 (100%) |
Geertruida tried his best to impress at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday, and he passed his audition with flying colours, as he marshalled Iliman Ndiaye very effectively all afternoon.
The lively winger had little impact on the game, as he failed to create a single chance or have a shot on target.
Geertruida starred in the backline with six defensive contributions throughout the afternoon, and also won two tackles during the 90 minutes.
His most impressive work came in the duels, as he ended the game with a 100 per cent success rate in battles that came both on the floor and in the air.
Moyes has always had a strong eye for defensive-minded players, and he must have been delighted with what he saw from his latest target.
Everton planning second raid on Premier League rivals
Everton have clearly been keeping an eye on promising talent elsewhere in the Premier League this season, as Football Insider revealed on Saturday that they are chasing Burnley winger Loum Tchaouna this summer.
The Toffees had scouts present to watch the 22-year-old in the Clarets’ recent 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, and are lining up a move to keep him in the top flight next term.
Moyes and Co. are clearly keen to shop in their most familiar market this summer, with moves for Geertruida and Thaouna both in the offing.
If they could get both of those deals over the line in the coming months, then it would drastically strengthen their hand in the wide areas ahead of next term.
