Major coup: Spurs on alert as PL enforcer tipped for England rejects contract - report
Brighton defender Ben White has turned down a new contract as Tottenham and Liverpool both circle, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claims that the centre-back, who has spent the season on loan at Newport, has attracted the attentions of the Premier League bit-hitters after impressing for the League Two side.
And the report claims that Newport’s manager Mike Flynn has said he will be a future England star.
White has made 40 appearances for Newport, including all but three of their league games.
He’s made two appearances for the Brighton first-team, both in the EFL Cup.
According to Transfermarkt.com, White is out of contract in the summer.
Football Insider verdict:
The 20-year-old centre-back has impressed this year and Brighton must be getting increasingly frustrated that he won’t sign a new contract after spending the season on loan at Newport. Now it looks like he’s on the radar of two big Premier League clubs and it looks like he’s going to take his chance at a big move. He’d be one for the future for both of them, but the chance to pick up a bargain possible future England international centre-back will be very tempting for both clubs. Brighton could well regret not jumping in to sign him up on a contract extension sooner.
