Man City could look to cash in on the Saudi Arabia interest in Ederson to make a move to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson admitted that Maignan is “playing some of his best football” right now with the Serie A giants.

City have conceded 13 goals in the Premier League this season, with the Brazil international keeping just two clean sheets in 11 games.

Man City could move Ederson on to sign Mike Maignan

He's a good goalkeeper,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“I mean at 29 he'd probably argue that he's at the peak of his career, you look at where he is at AC Milan.

“He served his time at Lyon from 2015–21, you look at his appearances and you look at his caps and look at where he is now you’d probably say he’s playing some of his best football.

“I’m not sure what transfer fee would be involved, but Ederson is a top goalkeeper and he’s going to stay at Manchester City for as long as he wants to stay at Manchester City.

“That Saudi move isn't going away, that's always mooted in the background, that will always be there for him in the same way it is for Kevin de Bruyne because of his international status, that option will be there.

“[Stefan] Ortega is at Manchester City, he's a top-quality goalkeeper and he's going to want to play at some point.

“I'd fancy Ortega going head to head with Maignan for the number one spot.”
