Kieran Maguire: Man City could sign multiple new deals after news from the US
Man City may use their pre-season trip to the United States to butter up commercial partners looking to strike new deals.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about City’s lucrative summer friendly schedule.
City announced on Monday (25 April) that they have agreed a deal to play two friendlies at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas in July.
Pep Guardiola’s side will take on Club America and an unnamed opponent as part of their second trip to the States in five years.
It is City’s first chance to travel overseas in pre-season since the start of the pandemic.
And Maguire suggests that they will use the opportunity to improve existing commercial relationships as well as cultivate new ones.

“There will be a focus in terms of strategic direction, for sure,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“There could be contracts being signed and extended with commercial partners in the United States.
“This gives the local partners an opportunity to see City alongside their product, so it is done from a commercial point of view.
“They won’t necessarily take the highest offer but rather look at how they can grow financially in the medium term from going to a specific location.”
EA Sports, Gatorade and WeWork are among City’s commercial partners who are headquartered in the US.
The reigning Premier League champions raked in £271.7million from sponsors and other commercial sources in 2020-21.
