Man City coaching staff have raised concerns about Kyle Walker's performances so far this season, sources have told Football Insider.

At 34 years old, there is a growing feeling that Walker's performances are on the wane, with noticeable changes to his pace and willingness to get forward.

The right-back has become a weak link in Pep Guardiola's side, with clubs targeting City's right-hand side in their attacking passages of play.

This was emphasised during the 4-0 defeat to Tottenham at the Etihad, when Timo Werner breezed past his man before setting up Brennan Johnson's goal.

Now, sources have told Football Insider that their search is ongoing with defensive additions rising up the list of priorities after recent results.

City have conceded ten goals in their last three games, while Walker's performances have raised red flags for some behind the scenes who are now waiting to see an improvement.

Concerns around the longevity of Walker's role in the team have been growing behind the scenes, but his recent displays have only heightened those fears.

He remains a regular fixture both in Guardiola's side and on the international stage with England, but is now facing pressure on his position for club and country.

An ongoing injury crisis at the Etihad has allowed the captain to keep his place in the side, but returning players are expected to provide additional competition.

It is said that the club “already know” who their priority targets will be to fill Walker’s position after communications between Guardiola and the transfer team.

Now, though, the coaches are looking to see an immediate improvement from Walker to prove that he is experiencing a dip in form rather than declining abilities.
