Man City starlet Couto told to make 'massive' Celtic move as offer reported - pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted joining Celtic would be a “massive” move for Manchester City starlet Yan Couto.
The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested a temporary move to Glasgow would suit all parties.
As reported by the Scottish Sun (13th August), Celtic have made an offer to take Couto, 19, on a season-long loan.
It is said the teenager was a VIP guest at Parkhead for Thursday’s win over Jablonec as the Hoops try to convince him of a move.
The right-back is reportedly weighing up the Bhoys’ offer amid interest from Spain and Portugal.
Whelan suggested Couto would be an instant hit at Parkhead after his footballing education at City.

He also claimed joining the Bhoys would be an excellent move for the youngster’s career.
Asked if he thought Couto could make an immediate impact at Celtic, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Yeah, absolutely.
“A player there that is going to be going and getting experience and progression in his career. It’s going to help Celtic in the short term but probably help Man City in the long term.
“That’s exactly what Man City are about. They’ve got an abundance of quality from young players all the way through to the under-23s and their senior team.
“We already know about the size of their squad and the quality they possess. It’s second to none in my opinion.
“This young player is going to be going to a great club with great support and a chance to showcase his skills there. He’ll be playing in Europe, hopefully, as well which is massive.”
Couto joined City last summer and spent the season on loan at La Liga 2 side Girona.
