Jeremie Frimpong could be in line for a move to Man City over another Premier League club following the latest updates.

After a run of just one win and eight defeats in their last 11 games, Pep Guardiola's side look as though they are in desperate need of some reinforcements come the January transfer window.

Right-back is one area they may need to cover given the recent struggles of Kyle Walker and one target has already been identified.

Now it appears as though the Premier League champions have been given a boost in their attempts to secure the services of the 24-year-old.

Liverpool have Jeremie Frimpong transfer stance that may aid Man City

There have been other clubs in the top-flight of English football to be linked with Frimpong recently, most notably Liverpool, who have considered him as a potential Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement.

According to the latest updates from Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg though, the Reds do not currently have the Leverkusen man on their list of "concrete transfer targets".

That is apparently down to the fact that Arne Slot prefers to operate with a back four rather than a wing-back such as Frimpong.

Thanks to that stance from those at Anfield, Man City may now have even more confidence that they can get a deal done if they pursue the Netherlands international.

With Liverpool in a much stronger position in the Premier League table, that might have made Merseyside a more appealing destination for the 24-year-old, especially with Trent Alexander-Arnold suspected to be on the way to Real Madrid.

Considering Frimpong has spent quite some time now playing under a Liverpool icon in Xabi Alonso recently, that too could have tempted him to favour a switch to Anfield.

But if that is now less likely to happen, a return to Man City could be a more than appealing alternative when his past connections there are taking into account as well.

Given how important a new right-back is for Guardiola's side right now, that could make this update a very welcome one indeed for those at the Etihad.
