Manchester United and Chelsea are plotting moves to make Kieran McKenna their next manager, sources have told Football Insider

Ipswich Town are doing everything they can to convince the Northern Irishman to stay and help them remain in the Premier League next season.

Sources say the Blues are targeting a “young, dynamic manager”, who can implement and oversee a progressive playing style after it was confirmed Mauricio Pochettino has left the club by mutual consent.

The 38-year-old is under contract with the Tractor Boys until 2027.

Man United and Chelsea ponder moves for Kieran McKenna

McKenna has been widely praised after helping Ipswich secure their long-awaited return to the Premier League following back-to-back promotions.

The Northern Irishman has recorded a 57.3 per cent win rate since taking over at Ipswich in 2021, drawing interest from Premier League sides over the past few months.

Talks are ongoing about the possibility of McKenna replacing Pochettino at Stamford Bridge, but the Tractor Boys are working hard to persuade him to continue his journey with the Suffolk-based club.

Man United are considering making a move for him after Football Insider revealed earlier this month Erik ten Hag is expected to be sacked even if his side beat Manchester City in the upcoming FA Cup final
