Manchester United could look to sign Chelsea stars Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah if Mauricio Pochettino becomes the club’s new manager this summer.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Chelsea could be in desperate need to sell players before 30 June as they aim to avoid breaching the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

O’Rourke suggested the 52-year-old Argentine could return to his former club to sign players on relatively cheap deals, with 24-year-old duo Gallagher and Chalobah the most likely candidates to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalboh could join Man United

Gallagher has long been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge due to his homegrown status despite featuring heavily under Pochettino over the past season.

The England international started in all 37 of his Premier League appearances and captained the side throughout the majority of the campaign in Reece James’s absence.

Football Insider revealed new contract talks have completely stalled with the midfielder ahead of his deal expiring in June 2025.

Gallagher and Chalobah could potentially make the move to Man United if Pochettino takes over and is provided with the necessary funds to get the deals over the line.

Chelsea

Reports have suggested the Red Devils are now willing to sell the majority of their first-team players this summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to overhaul the squad.

But sorting out the managerial situation will be one of the first tasks on his agenda after Football Insider revealed earlier this month Erik ten Hag is expected to be sacked by Man United even if his side beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final
