Kieran Maguire blasts Glazer as 'arrogant' after Man United footage emerges

Avram Glazer was “arrogant and ignorant” when he was filmed refusing to apologise to Man United fans for the failed European Super League plot.

That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively after Sky Sports posted footage of the incident.

Tensions at United boiler over at the weekend when thousands of supporters stormed Old Trafford in protest against the Glazers’ ownership.

Their meeting with Liverpool was postponed as a result and the atmosphere at the club is toxic.

That is despite a relative quota of success on the pitch in 2020-21, with United one result away from mathematically securing a Champions League spot.

Maguire lamented the video footage as a missed opportunity to cool tensions before attacking Glazer for his arrogance.

He told Football Insider correspondent: “It could have been seen as reaching out, it could have been seen as an olive branch.

“But by doubling down and just being somewhat arrogant and ignorant, I think Avram Glazer personified the perception among Man United fans of the Glazers from day one.

“He’s just made a lot of money after selling shares in the club fairly recently. I think this is just going to result in entrenchment among the United fanbase.”

Joel Glazer apologised to fans after the collapse of the ESL in a statement released via United’s official website.

The Glazer family have been involved with United since 2003 and have had a controlling stake since 2005.
