Man United are set to entertain loan offers for Antony in the January transfer window, sources with knowledge of the club's plans have told Football Insider.

This comes shortly after reports linked the Brazilian winger with a return to Ajax, while Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have also been credited with an interest.

The 24-year-old is no longer a part of Erik ten Hag's plans at Old Trafford, and the club's hierarchy are now keen to remove his wages from their bill.

Antony has featured just twice in the Premier League so far this season, with both of those appearances coming from the bench.

However, there is an acceptance that any interested clubs will be unwilling to match a high valuation for his permanent transfer, making a loan deal more likely.

Sources say United are open to including an option to buy with any temporary deal, but a large percentage of his wages will have to be covered.

Man United to let Antony leave after Erik ten Hag decision

Antony made the £86million move from Ajax to Old Trafford in 2022 on the insistence of Ten Hag, and there is now an acceptance at the club that they will have to cut their losses.

However, his performances since arriving in the Premier League have put clubs off of committing to a permanent deal for his signature.

Sources say clubs are now exploring the option of a loan deal in January so that they can assess the winger's level before deciding on whether to make the move permanent.

United, meanwhile, want to clear their wage bill to make room for potential additions and they are keen to strengthen their squad following a slow start to the season.

Ten Hag is now also said to be open to Antony's exit as he has shown little progress in the two years since his arrival despite the boss' faith in his development.
