Man United have set their sights on Leeds United pair Kalvin Phillips and Ben White but will bide their time until the summer before pursuing deals, Football Insider can reveal.

The Premier League giants have regularly watched the youthful duo this season and will continue to do so for the rest of the campaign.

A United source has Football Insider that central midfielder Phillips, 24, and centre-back White, 22, have both earned "glowing" reports from their scouts.

United's recruitment team have been instructed to find the best British talent and to concentrate on sourcing rising stars with the potential to become established ones.

Both players have been integral to Leeds' promotion challenge under Marcelo Bielsa and their performances have been consistently impressive over subsequent months.

United recognise neither White or Phillips can be prised from Elland Road in the current window.

But their talent spotters are assessing the pair with a view to making possible moves for them in the summer.

Phillips signed a new five-year Leeds contract in September after the club knocked back £20million-plus summer bids from multiple Premier League clubs.

But, as revealed by Football Insider, the new deal has a £20million-plus release clause that can be triggered in the summer if the Championship leaders fail to secure promotion.

White is on a season-long loan from Brighton that has exceeded all expectations and the Premier League club face a major battle to keep him in the summer.
