Alex Bruce admits he would not be surprised if Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho managed to bring former player Willian to north London this summer.
The former Premier League defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists that the 31-year-old is a “manager’s dream” and someone thee Spurs boss would love to reunite with.
As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, Spurs chief Daniel Levy is plotting to move quickly and table a substantial contract offer to the Brazil international in a bid to secure his services.
Bruce says that Willian is exactly the sort of reliable performer Mourinho will be looking to sign this summer and believes a deal could be on the cards.
Bruce told Football Insider: “He’s been around the Premier League for a number of years, has always been a very, very good player in the Premier League.
“They’re the kind of players Mourinho would want, where you know what you’re going to get out of them. He’s a really, really good team player. He’s got that knack of scoring goals, creating goals and working hard for the team, which is a manager’s dream.
“It wouldn’t surprise me, having worked with Mourinho, if he ends up at Spurs.”
Willian played 114 times under Mourinho during their time at Chelsea together, scoring 15 goals and chipping in with 14 assists.
He has missed just one Premier League game for Frank Lampard this season, with a total of 37 appearances across all competitions.
