Manchester City 115 charges: ‘Legal source’ issues update on judges involved in case

Manchester City’s 115 charges case is being dragged on due to judges being busy with other work, according to Keith Wyness.

The former Everton chief executive, speaking to Football Insider, questions that narrative and thinks a solution to how the Premier League will handle the verdict is being worked on behind closed doors.

It has been over three years since Man City were first charged by the Premier League for an alleged breach of their financial rules between 2009 and 2018.

There have been suggestions that Man City could be expelled from the Premier League or hit with a huge points deduction if they are found guilty.

No time frame has been released over when Man City’s 115 charges case will be resolved, and Pep Guardiola’s side could add another Premier League title to their trophy cabinet this season if they beat Arsenal in a thrilling title race.

Premier League reaching ‘settlement’ on 115 charges case

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the case is beginning to take too long to resolve.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness was not pleased with the idea that the judges are busy handling other cases.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I read a very interesting appraisal of the situation from a legal source.

“They were saying that basically they believe that the judges have not had the right time, and they’ve been busy on other cases and that’s the only reason behind it. I question that.

“I still think that there’s a settlement of some sort being tried to be worked out and how they’re going to handle the actual outcome.

“So look, we all know it’s dragged on for too long. If this is the legal situation, that it is just the judges being too busy, then I’m afraid that’s not good enough either.”

Man City to welcome offers on midfielder this summer

Man City can only wait for an announcement on their 115 charges case, and the club are continuing to plan for the summer transfer window.

Despite having only moved to the Etihad last summer, sources have told Football Insider that Tijjani Reijnders will be allowed to leave Man City in the transfer window.

The midfielder has struggled for game time lately despite having made a positive start to his Man City career.

Serie A clubs are plotting moves for the 27-year-old, who previously had a two-year spell at AC Milan before moving to the Premier League.
