Manchester City: Elliot Anderson move grows in importance with star now ‘considering his future’
Manchester City should accelerate their move for Elliot Anderson with Nico Gonzalez the latest midfielder who could leave the Etihad.
According to The Times’ Paul Hirst, Gonzalez is “considering his future” and “assessing his options” due to a lack of game time at Man City.
The 24-year-old didn’t feature in four of the final five games of the season as Man City were chasing the Premier League title, with Pep Guardiola preferring to start with Rodri and Bernardo Silva in midfield.
Silva will be leaving Man City at the end of his contract next month, but Gonzalez is unlikely to break through into the starting line-up.
That is due to Man City being the favourites to sign Anderson, in a deal which could be worth up to £100million.

Man City have made their intentions clear to bring Anderson to the club, although they face competition from rivals Manchester United.
Anderson would slot straight into the Man City starting line-up if he arrives, so Gonzalez would be better off leaving the club if he wished to get more playing time.

However, with the future of Rodri uncertain, amid interest from Real Madrid, Gonzalez may not be able to leave Man City until Anderson, or another replacement is sourced.
There has been speculation about whether Tijjani Reijnders could also leave the club, which could leave the Citizens light in the middle of the park heading into next season without any arrivals.
Confirmed news hands Man United boost in Elliot Anderson pursuit
Former chief scout at Old Trafford, Mick Brown, told Football Insider that Guardiola’s departure from Man City could give Man United a boost to sign Anderson.
The 23-year-old is unlikely to leave Nottingham Forest before the World Cup begins, and so will have time to consider his options.
Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is expected to replace Guardiola at the Etihad, and the Italian may have his own transfer targets he wants to pursue.
Anderson’s valuation could increase if he performs well at the World Cup, which could put Man United out of the running due to their financial limitations.
The sales of Gonzalez, Rodri or Reijnders will also be a financial boost to Man City to bring Anderson in and strengthen their squad further this summer.
