Everton 'working hard' to finalise Jack Grealish deal after Tottenham move agreed

Everton are working hard to reach an agreement with Manchester City over the signing of Jack Grealish late in the transfer window.

The 30-year-old remains a top target for David Moyes following his loan spell last season, with negotiations ongoing behind the scenes between the two clubs.

Man City's lofty valuation had initially seen question marks arise over the deal, but work is now being done to reach an agreement which would see him re-join on loan.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Everton are accelerating their move to sign Grealish and are hopeful of reaching an agreement.

This comes as the Toffees prepare to lose Iliman Ndiaye, who has agreed terms with Tottenham after a £60million offer was accepted by Everton in the last 24 hours.

Grealish's return is now seen as key for Moyes, who is aiming to land some top attacking talents to avoid weakening his squad at this late stage of the transfer window.

Are Everton making moves to sign Jack Grealish?

Football Insider revealed on 29 August that Everton are battling Sunderland in their pursuit of Grealish after the Black Cats opened talks with Man City.

However, the midfielder is believed to prefer a return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and is hopeful that an agreement can be reached between the two clubs.

As they prepare for Ndiaye's departure, Everton are now stepping up talks with Man City, with Grealish emerging as their top priority signing.

"Everton are working hard to get this Jack Grealish deal done," Brown told Football Insider.

"After the things he did there last season, it has always been the plan to bring him back, but they were waiting for him to come back from this injury that he's had.

"Now that it seems Ndiaye is leaving, they're going to need to get somebody in to replace him, and that might help them give Man City what they want either way.

"But it's been something Everton have wanted to do, and they're now talking to Man City and trying to reach an agreement.

"I think a loan deal is the most likely scenario now, but he played well under David Moyes last season, so it'll be good for everybody to get him back to his best level."

What is the latest on Iliman Ndiaye's future?

Ndiaye is edging closer to a move away from Everton in the coming days, with Spurs having agreed a fee despite suggestions of a hijack from Premier League rivals.

One way or another, the Senegal international looks set to leave the Hill Dickinson Stadium, forcing Everton into the market to find a replacement.

Football insider revealed on 31 August that Everton are being forced to sell Ndiaye because they have failed to cash in on their fringe players as the window reaches its final day.

Events over the weekend have exposed The Friedkin Group’s (TFG) desire to first sell players to raise funds, which they hope to use to replenish Moyes' squad.

Everton have been willing to sell Tim Iroegbunam, Carlos Alcaraz and Nathan Patterson, but their failure to do so has created pressure to sell one of their better players.
