Manchester City have gotten the metaphorical ball rolling in the transfer market with a deal already done for PSG's Hermann Malonga.

It is believed that, despite not yet being announced publicly, Enzo Maresca is working behind the scenes following the emotional departure of Pep Guardiola.

John Stones and Bernardo Silva have already confirmed their exits, bringing tears to many supporters ears, so the fanbase is now being treated to an exciting, but unknown, deal.

Fending off interest from several Premier League clubs, Man City have won the race for an 18-year-old centre-back, who has accepted all terms offered by the club.

Fabrizio Romano has given his famous "here we go" reaction to the news, and many are looking forward to seeing the youngster shine on the biggest of stages.

Having never made his debut for the PSG first team, however, there is a lot about the player that remains mysterious, at least until now.

Hermann Malonga is ahead of his time at PSG

The first point is that PSG had no desire to lose Malonga this summer, with the coaches at the Parc des Princes believing that he had the potential to become something big for the senior team.

At six feet and two inches, the teenager is already developing into a giant at the back, one who can stand over his opponent and make them feel miniature.

However, having come through Melun FC, AS Lieusaint, and US Sénart-Moissy, before joining PSG, he clearly has humble begins, which could help to keep him on the ground at the Etihad Stadium.

And for anyone that is worried about a potential lack of experience, don't be. Malonga has become a star at Under-17s level for France, being part of the side to reach the UEFA U17 European Championship final.

Manchester City expand list of exciting and talented youngsters

Although there is a lot of excitement around Malonga, he will have to battle just as hard as others to climb the ladder at the Etihad.

The Man City academy is stacked to the rafters when it comes to youth talent, including 17-year-old Stephen Mfuni, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Watford.

Further forward, Divine Mukasa, who proved himself at Leicester City last season, has earned a new contract, while Ryan McAidoo has already scored his debut goal for the first team.

Supporters are also desperate to see Mahamadou Sangare and Reigan Heskey given chances in the upcoming campaign, and Malonga can now be added to that list.
