Five Man City players who could spearhead League Two promotion bid

Manchester City supporters are anxiously awaiting the outcome of being found guilty of 114 Premier League financial breaches.

Keith Wyness, a former Premier League board member, has predicted the Citizens to be slapped with a 50-point deduction, almost guaranteeing relegation.

That is far from the worst-case scenario for Man City, though, with many believing that the club should be forced to start over in League Two instead.

Potential punishments also include fines, transfer bans and compensation for Premier League rivals, but this would be by far the worst of them all.

The likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden - yes, even him - Rayan Cherki, Enzo Fernandez, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo would all jump ship.

An expected transfer ban would ultimately see Enzo Maresca, were he to still be in charge, look to the club's academy to rebuild and push for promotion in 2027-28.

Goalkeeper: Max-Edgar Chabot

Signed from Angers during the summer, Max-Edgar Chabot already appears to be a talent in between the sticks at just 18 years of age.

With Gianluigi Donnarumma likely to leave, Chabot would be given the perfect opportunity to stake his case at the Etihad.

Defender: Kaden Braithwaite

In front of the young goalkeeper must be 18-year-old Kaden Braithwaite, who already has three first-team appearances to his name.

Man City through-and-through, the centre-back would have the skill and determination to lead his boyhood club back up the football pyramid.

Defender: Christian McFarlane

Currently on loan at Leicester City but set to return next summer, Christian McFarlane would be the perfect play for the left-back spot.

The 19-year-old has started three of the Foxes' League One games so far this term, creating a few chances, firing shots at goal, and putting in the hard work in the final third.

Midfielder: Floyd Samba

Floyd Samba was a relatively unknown figure until announcing himself to the supporters with a brace against Norwich City in the Carabao Cup.

Despite playing as a centre-forward, the 17-year-old is naturally a centre-midfielder, only occasionally venturing forward towards the penalty area.

Ryan McAidoo

One player that supporters are desperate to see more of is Ryan McAidoo, having also scored in the last round of the Carabao Cup.

The young winger made a serious impression during pre-season, and that is really no surprise after he notched 12 goal contributions in 14 Premier League 2 games last term.
