'It's just inappropriate' - Stefan Borson furious after what Man City owners said about 114 charges

Manchester City's owners claiming "irrefutable evidence" against the Premier League's 114 charges is "inappropriate".

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the owners should have been far more careful with the wording of their statement.

After being found guilty of 114 charges relating to financial allegations, rival fans want the Citizens to be slapped with severe punishments, including transfer bans and relegation from the top tier.

Following the Premier League's decision, Man City release their own statement, voicing their disappointment and surprise at the independent panel's findings.

The owners were seemingly so surprised due to the "comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence" in support of an innocent verdict, but very few believe them.

Man City's appeal deadline is Friday, 2 October, and the club are expected to take action, a process which could take another few months.

'I didn't really like Man City's statement in the first place'

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson hit out at the owners' phrasing in recent statements, especially when it comes to their evidence.

"They say they've got 'irrefutable evidence'. Clearly, it's not irrefutable, because it's been refuted. So I'm not I'm not totally sure why they keep using that phrase," he said.

"I didn't really like it in the first place. And now I think it's just inappropriate. Nothing is ever irrefutable anyway.

"Anybody that's been in high-level commercial litigation knows that the way these things work is that every point is argued.

"Even some of the seemingly most obvious points of common ground are very often not common ground. So I think they made a bit of a bit of a mistake in calling it irrefutable evidence.

"They could have said that they believe they have 'strong evidence'."

Could Enzo Maresca lose players in January?

The entire situation has already gotten out of hand, and this could force players to begin looking for an escape as soon as the January window.

Keith Wyness told Football Insider that even Enzo Maresca will trigger an exit clause if the club are relegated from the Premier League.

Undoubtedly, the Citizens would be forced to rebuild using the academy, especially if they are handed a multi-window transfer ban.

Next to go would likely be Erling Haaland, Enzo Fernandez, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marc Guehi and several others, and it will be impossible to stop them.
