Jack Grealish angrily responds to Man City rumours after missing pre-season tour

Jack Grealish has taken to Instagram to outline why he is not on Man City's pre-season tour amid strong rumours of an Everton return being completed soon.

Grealish has returned to Man City after the conclusion of his Everton loan spell at the end of June, with another deal in the offing this summer.

His final Toffees appearance came against Aston Villa on 18 January, as a serious foot injury ended his campaign prematurely.

He remained at the club during rehabilitation, and is set to be assessed by new City boss Enzo Maresca after making a full recovery.

Grealish is believed to be prioritising a return to Everton even though they are uncertain about splashing out to sign him permanently.

Rumours of an imminent switch have spread after he was not included on City's squad list for their tour of Asia, but the 30-year-old has moved to clear up any talk of him being left out by Maresca.

City set a £50million option-to-buy clause in Grealish's loan deal, which Everton decided against triggering as they are only willing to pay a hugely reduced fee.

The Citizens' lofty demands could be a sticking point between the two parties, and any deal is only likely to be completed towards the end of the window.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Everton will accelerate a move for Grealish if Iliman Ndiaye leaves for Al Hilal soon.

ESPN UK's Instagram post about Grealish not being included in City's squad for their pre-season tour drew a strong response from the 30-year-old.

After they insisted that he had been "left out" of the squad, Grealish hit back in the comments by saying: "Just to let you know, I'm still recovering from an injury so I'm not training yet. Haven't been 'left out.'"

Grealish won the hearts of Everton fans throughout the first half of last season as he registered two goals and six assists in 20 league games.

Many would love to see him back at the club for next season, with supporters demanding more additions after they slipped to a friendly loss against Championship club Stoke City in midweek.

Moyes has remained coy about his return, but did hint in May that he would like the City star back on Merseyside this summer.

He told reporters: "Obviously we like Jack a lot – but we've not got an answer yet. We've looked after Jack since his injury and his injury is coming on. Normally a player would go back to their parent club and be looked after from there, but we'll continue doing our best for Jack."

His move is not looking likely to be completed too soon, but still seems to be on the cards as all parties work towards an agreement.
