Manchester City appear to have won the race for Leicester City's extremely talented Jeremy Monga after hijacking a deal this summer.

While Arsenal beat Pep Guardiola and his players to the Premier League title in 2025-26, it seems that the Citizens still have a major pull when it comes to transfers.

The 18-year-old winger announced himself to football fans up and down the country, making 30 appearances as the Foxes were relegated to League One.

Despite such dire circumstances at the King Power Stadium, it has been an incredible breakout season for the youngster, with a big move now on the cards.

Fabrizio Romano has issued his famous "here we go" post, suggesting that an official announcement is imminent, and City fans need to know what they're getting for £10million.

It is understood that Enzo Maresca played a huge role in Monga choosing City, mainly due to their time together at Leicester, and at 18 years of age, he has the world at his feet.

Jeremy Monga is a record-breaker at Leicester City

In 27 Championship matches last season, Monga notched one goal and two assists, with both assists earning the Foxes points on the board.

The winger became one of the Premier League's youngest-ever players at 15 years and 271 days, later becoming the youngest goalscorer in Championship history when netting against Preston.

Known for his explosive acceleration, direct dribbling, and confidence taking on defenders, he could already be seen as the next Jeremy Doku.

His goal against Preston saw him break a record set by Jude Bellingham, who, as everyone knows, has gone on to be a huge player for Real Madrid and England.

Monga even went viral accidentally when playing for Leicester. Due to his age, he was unable to wear a shirt with a gambling sponsor, with images of his shirt doing the rounds on social media.

How did Arsenal let the deal slip?

For weeks, it has appeared like Monga was set to join the Gunners, with talks advancing ever since the 2025-26 campaign ended.

Football Insider understood that Mikel Arteta's side were growing in confidence that a deal would be completed, but they clearly waited too long.

Newcastle United have felt the same pain, with Liverpool taking advantage of Eddie Howe's hesitation to sign Victor Munoz, so a theme is appearing.

Monga is an extremely exciting player, one who began his career in Coventry City's academy before joining the Foxes and grabbing the world's attention over the last two seasons.
