Man City have 'blown their rivals out of the water' after three 'fantastic' deals completed

Manchester City have blown their rivals out of the water in recent transfer windows after agreeing three excellent pieces of business.

Despite having made just one first-team signing this summer, with other arrivals made with the future in mind, City are receiving high praise for their work in the market.

The £116million signing of Elliot Anderson saw rival clubs beaten to the deal, while the mid-season signings of Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo have been highlighted.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the three major pieces of business done by Man City have already put them ahead of their rivals.

Securing Guehi, an England regular and one of the best defenders in the Premier League, for just £20million has been labelled "incredible", while Semenyo was highly sought after.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are still chasing new signings to improve their squads, but Man City's proactive business has given them room to take their time this summer.

Man City given high praise for three major transfers

Brown told Football Insider in April that Guehi will be key to any success Man City have in the future, despite having missed out on the Premier League title to Arsenal last season.

City are now primed to bounce back and reclaim their title, with Enzo Maresca at the helm, and their recent business has put them in a strong position to do so.

With the club still targeting more additions to their starting XI this summer, they have set themselves up well for the new season while their rivals continue to scramble.

"Man City have done some outstanding business in the last couple of windows," Brown told Football Insider.

"They got the deal for Elliot Anderson over the line when he was wanted by Man United and Liverpool as well, so that's already one they've got over on their rivals.

"But their top business started before that, when they got deals done for Guehi and Semenyo during the January transfer window.

"I thought at the time they were two excellent pieces of business, especially signing Guehi for just £20million which was incredible, because they've improve their squad in two major positions.

"Not only that, but they also took two players who were wanted by their rivals, and therefore weakened their ability to strengthen.

"They've blown them out of the water in that respect, and now you're looking at Arsenal, Liverpool, and others scrambling around to sign players in key positions.

"Man City don't have to do that, they got their business done early, even in the January window, and now they can take their time and assess their options.

"I don't think they're done, they'd still like a couple more players, but they're now in a good position. Far be it from me to sing Man City's praises, but they've done some fantastic business."

Which players are next on Man City's list of targets?

Having already completed signings to address key areas of concern in their squad, Man City are now looking at potential opportunities to further strengthen in the market.

A number of players are on Man City's radar in a number of different positions, most recently Yan Diomande, who has emerged as a target given his potential availability.

Football Insider reported on 25 July that Man City are now very much in the race to sign Diomande from RB Leipzig, although Real Madrid have emerged as the favourites.

Man City are believed to have checked on Diomande's situation at Leipzig, but could be pushed away from the race as a deal may be difficult to do this summer.

However, should he remain with the Bundesliga outfit beyond the end of the window, Man City will be keeping a close eye on him in case he does become available.
