Man City plan for ambitious summer rebuild as Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders' exits look likely
Manchester City may already be planning for a future without Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders in the ongoing transfer window.
With Enzo Maresca poised to succeed Pep Guardiola, the Cityzens seem to have plans for a major squad rebuild after falling short in the Premier League title race.
Several players in the current group have enjoyed major success with the Sky Blues, but the hierarchy are possibly considering a refresh ahead of next season.
Rodri and Reijnders could potentially be looking over their shoulder at the Etihad Stadium, with Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson and Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali being linked with a move to M11 soon.
While the 29-year-old Spain international won everything under Guardiola and may be open to a new challenge, the Dutch midfielder has experienced a mixed debut season in the Premier League.
There has been talk of Reijnders, 27, eyeing an exit from the Etihad Stadium and it looks like the Cityzens have replacements lined up.
Man City look to make transfer statement with Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali
Man City could be about to spend over £200million to complete a double deal for Anderson and Tonali this summer.
The Sky Blues are said to be genuinely considering signing the Forest and Newcastle midfielders, and are ready to push Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the latter.
According to The Athletic on 17 June, Man City's interest in Tonali doesn't interfere with their plans to get a deal over the line for Anderson.
Maresca is expected to take charge of the Cityzens ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, with an ambitious summer rebuild on the cards.
Tijjani Reijnders situation uncertain at Etihad Stadium
Sources told Football Insider on 16 June that clubs in Serie A are interested in taking Reijnders back to Italy in the summer, but Man City have no immediate plans to sell him.
While Maresca may want to keep the Netherlands international, the prospect of consistent game time next season would surely be challenging if Anderson and Tonali arrive at the Etihad Stadium.
The former AC Milan midfielder's situation in M11 will be one to keep an eye on as the Cityzens progress with their plans to strengthen the squad.
