Man City’s updated stance on Erling Haaland revealed after training ground talks
Man City have no plans to entertain offers for Erling Haaland as they await the outcome of their appeal against their 114 charges, sources have told Football Insider.
Haaland is one of several Man City players facing an uncertain future after they were officially found guilty of financial rule breaches against the Premier League.
City have lodged an appeal against the independent commission's verdict as they continue to maintain their innocence.
Haaland arrived at City’s training ground on Thursday, having spent the international break with Norway, and manager Enzo Maresca held talks on the club's training ground with the entire squad as they prepare for a return to action against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The 26-year-old is on the radar of several top clubs across Europe as they wait to see how the Citizens are punished.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, City are not entertaining the idea of selling Haaland as it stands despite the large cloud looming over the club.
Haaland is aiming for more silverware under Enzo Maresca in the meantime, with his contract not set to expire until 2034.
Man City standing firm over Erling Haaland exit despite guilty verdict
City are potentially facing relegation from the top flight if their appeal proves unsuccessful, but Haaland's contract does not include a clause that allows him to leave for a certain fee if they are thrown out of the top flight.
Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona are among the clubs to have been linked with him over the last few weeks.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "We have to wait and see what happens with Manchester City. Obviously, Haaland is under a long-term contract.
"He signed that new deal not too long ago to keep Man City for the foreseeable future. They are planning to keep Haaland...they don't want to lose him."
What has Haaland said about City's charges?
Haaland has continued to prove his quality this season, with 10 goals in 11 games for club and country so far.
City face their biggest challenge of the campaign so far this weekend as they travel to face Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
The Norwegian striker gave his first in-depth interview about the current situation at the Etihad to Sky Sports on Thursday, saying: "We have to stick together. We have to stay with each other, and we have to stay positive. No matter what happens in life, we always have to have a smile.
"So we have to stay positive, look ahead, and try to win football games and try to enjoy the situation and win the game. We have to stick together; we have to spread the love to each other."
