Tijjani Reijnders could be tempted to quit Man City on one condition

Tijjani Reijnders could push to leave Manchester City if he is not guarunteed regular game time, sources have told Football Insider.

Enzo Maresca is believed to have been impressed by the 28-year-old's performances in pre-season and is reluctant to see him move on despite the growing interest.

The Netherlands international had hoped to impress the new boss and prove he still has a role to play in the coming season after dropping out of the starting XI under Pep Guardiola.

However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Reijnders will seek assurances about his playing time under Maresca this season.

If he is not seen as a regular part of the starting XI at the Etihad, there is a growing expectation that the midfielder will seek a move away given the level of interest in him.

A number of clubs in the Premier League are believed to be keeping a close eye on the sitaution, and are preparing to make moves before the window closes.

Could Tijjani Reijnders leave Man City?

Football Insider revealed last month that Maresca has been keen to give Reijnders a chance to become part of his plans during their pre-season preparations.

He has taken that chance well, and impressed during the Citizens' pre-season tour of Asia, but that has done little to deter the growing interest in his situation.

While Maresca is believed to have been impressed by the midfielder's displays and could open the door for him to remain part of his plans, he will seek guarantees.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Reijnders will be hoping he can make an impression on the new Man City boss Enzo Maresca.

"He has been doing that so far in pre-season, he's started a couple of games and performed well under the new manager.

"But if he's not going to be playing regularly under Maresca this season, then the player himself might be interested in making a move away in search of regular first-team football.

"I'm sure he will speak to the manager about his situation and plans, and if he isn't going to feature as part of the starting XI, then he could look to move on.

"But as things stand right now, City aren’t planning on letting any more players leave until they bring some in."

Which clubs are interested in signing Reijnders?

Given the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Reijnders and his future at Man City, a number of clubs both in the Premier League and across Europe are keeping tabs on his situation.

Among the Premier League sides having a look at him are Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, with both clubs having lost key midfielders already this summer.

Football Insider revealed on 9 August that Nottingham Forest are well-placed financially to sign Reijnders, with the money from Elliot Anderson's sale set to be reinvested.

There are concerns about whether he would be a natural replacement for Anderson given their differing roles in the side, but that will be left for Glasner to resolve.

However, the £55million price tag is not expected to be a problem for Forest, and there is a growing chance they could look to tempt him away.
