Man City already have Jeremy Monga plan in place as 'advisors' step in

Manchester City are not likely to loan out new winger Jeremy Monga this season.

That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the 17-year-old will be staying put at the Etihad Stadium for the foreseeable future.

City confirmed their signing of the wideman from Leicester City earlier this week, in a deal that cost them an initial fee of £10million.

Wyness believes they are now more likely to keep the starlet in their development squads in 2026-27, so he can become part of the City "family."

New manager Enzo Maresca is familiar with the youngster, having previously worked for the Foxes, and is understood to have played a big role in his signing.

Monga notched one goal and two assists in 27 appearances in the Championship last year, but is unlikely to return to that level next term.

Jeremy Monga's 'advisors' to step in

Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Monga's "advisors" will feel that staying at the Etihad will be the right move for him right now.

The youngster has already gained significant experience in senior men's football from his time at Leicester, to the point where a loan spell may be of little use to him at the moment.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness shared the likely plan for Monga now that he is a City player.

"I think for a lot of young players of this age, his advisors may be smart and say, look, we think for the next two years of his career playing at City under the system, and the coaching and amongst the players he's going to be mixing with is great," he said

"We all know minutes and pathway; the two words are crucial as we go forward, so they may be agitating for a move in a couple of years' time, but right now between 16 and 18 those would be fantastic years to get the experience of City under your belt and become part of that family.

"I think it's a very, very good place for a kid of that age to be right now. So, Maresca obviously thinks a lot of him. He obviously has observed him as well as a kid and seen that he's obviously got his head on his shoulders, so he's got every chance.

"If I were a young talented boy, I'd love to get that chance to have those two years of experience at City right now."

Man City open talks to agree Teddie Lamb deal

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that City have opened talks with young forward Teddie Lamb over a new contract at the Etihad.

The 17-year-old has impressed since joining from Leyton Orient's youth system, and is now about to see his efforts rewarded with a new deal.

Lamb notched 25 goals for City's U18s team last season, a tally that proved enough to see him end the campaign as their leading goalscorer.

The club are now trying to tie him down to a new deal, as the attacker is deemed to be a player with huge potential to improve.
