Sources: Lazio eye swoop for Charlie Gray as Man City talks 'ongoing'
Lazio and Feyenoord are both monitoring the future of Manchester City starlet Charlie Gray, sources have told Football Insider.
The 20-year-old midfielder is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium at the end of June, and is also on the radar of several other English clubs.
The Citizens are in "ongoing" talks over a potential new contract for the youngster, who is already attracting a queue of interest from across Europe.
Italian giants Lazio and Dutch side Feyenoord are just two of the current suitors, but the list is expected to grow if he leaves City.
Gray made his senior debut as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup victory over Brentford back in December, and was on the fringes of the first-team squad for much of the season.
He was also named on the bench in the Champions League on multiple occasions in 2025-26, but is now just weeks away from a potential exit.
Man City set to lose top young talent in Charlie Gray
Gray has been a staple of City's academy sides in recent years and has progressed to the stage where he is on the verge of gaining further first-team recognition.
He joined his boyhood club as a nine-year-old and has since progressed through the academy ranks, and starred at U21 level in the last two seasons.
He was even named Player of the Season for City's Elite Development Squad back in the 2024-25 campaign.
Pep Guardiola regularly handed him the chance to be part of the matchday squad at senior level last term, in what was a breakthrough campaign as the starlet made his professional debut.
However, City are now facing a battle on their hands in order to keep the promising midfielder, as he will be able to walk away for free if talks do not progress.
Lazio and Feyenoord are both waiting to offer him the chance to move abroad, and they are both likely to pounce if City do not act to get a deal done
Man City facing eight-man summer exodus at senior level
Former City financial advisor Stefan Borson recently told Football Insider that his former club could take drastic action to reduce their wage bill this summer.
They have already cleared two significant pay packets through the exits of John Stones and Bernardo Silva on free transfers, and Borson feels that as many as six more big names could follow them out the door.
The football finance expert pointed to fringe players like Savinho, Jack Grealish, Tijjani Reijnders and Rico Lewis for likely departures.
He also noted significant interest in both Rodri and Ruben Dias, which could leave the incoming manager with a build rebuild to contend with ahead of 2026-27.
