Manchester City would be willing to pay around £80million for Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson in the summer transfer window.

That is according to former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider there has been “progressed negotiations” around signing the England international.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been heavily linked with a move to sign Anderson in recent months following his performances this season.

The 23-year-old impressed in Forest’s 2-2 draw against the Manchester giants last week, where his 76th-minute strike earned his side a point at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City have agreed several transfers over the past year as Guardiola continues to revamp his squad.

Could Man City offer £100m for Elliot Anderson?

Man City are favourites to sign Anderson if Forest decide to let him leave the City Ground this summer.

However, they are expected to face competition for his signature, with rivals Manchester United among a host of Premier League clubs linked with the midfielder.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed how much Man City could be willing to pay for Anderson in the summer window.

“The top and bottom of it is, what's the fee going to be?” said Borson.

“I can't see City paying the £100m that's been touted previously.

“I do think City do seem quite likely to buy the player from what I can gather and seem to have some kind of progressed negotiations on that player, but I can't see it being £100m, so we'll have to see.

“I would think that kind of £80m range is probably where you're looking.”

How Nottingham Forest relegation could impact Anderson

Anderson’s future is likely to depend on whether Forest remain in the Premier League this season.

Anderson is expected to play a key role for England at the World Cup this summer, having featured heavily for Thomas Tuchel’s side since making his senior debut last September against Andorra.

The midfielder has also been ever-present for Forest after starting in 35 of his 38 appearances this season, where he’s registered two goals and three assists.
