Diogo Dalot has made a fresh case for a new long-term Man United contract with a starring role in Portugal's win over Denmark.
Dalot has been a much-maligned figure at Old Trafford in recent seasons despite being a regular starter for Man United.
Michael Carrick has stuck with him for the start of this campaign, and the 27-year-old has repaid his faith with some strong performances.
He is approaching the final 18 months of his contract at United, having last penned a long-term deal in 2023.
Dalot is certainly trying to justify the Red Devils offering him a new deal by impressing for club and country this season.
His latest international display will only further his case for fresh terms at Old Trafford after Portugal emerged with a 4-2 win over Denmark.
Diogo Dalot praised for changing the game in Portugal's win over Denmark
Dalot has started five of United's seven games under Carrick so far this season, after making 36 appearances last term.
He was handed a 39th appearance for Portugal on Thursday night as they recorded a third successive Nations League A win in Copenhagen.
Dalot came on in the 63rd minute for Joao Cancelo and was key to Jorge Jesus' side scoring twice to win 4-2.
His run in behind the Danes' backline in the 87th minute saw him set Joao Felix up to seal the win and register a first assist since June.
He made 15 accurate passes from 17 attempts, two clearances and won his one attempted aerial duel in a solid performance at both ends of the pitch for his country.
GOAL Portugal praised his performance, saying: "He came on in the 63rd minute and proved to be a game-changer. He provided the assist for Joao Felix’s late goal, showing great attacking intent from his position as a full-back."
While A Bola did similar as they said: "Whilst Cancelo put in a fine performance, Dalot sought to emulate him on the right. He came on in the 63rd minute and managed, in the 77th minute, to make a crucial intervention to snuff out the danger, before playing a key role in the 87th minute by setting up Joao Felix for the goal that sealed the victory."
More displays like the one he produced in Copenhagen will surely see him earn a new contract at United, with a decision likely to be made before the end of this season.
Which other contracts do United need to sort out?
Dalot will be in line for new terms at Old Trafford if he continues to impress internationally and play regularly under Carrick.
They have other situations to sort out before his, however, with seven United stars out of contract next summer as it stands.
Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Luke Shaw is set to be offered a new deal before his expires in 2027, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez also coming to the end of their respective deals.
