Fenerbahce set sights on signing Man United star who could follow Mohamed Salah
Fenerbahce are working on a deal to sign Man United star Marcus Rashford to compete with Trabzonspor's move for Mo Salah, sources have told Football Insider.
United boss Michael Carrick is set to sanction Rashford's departure this summer following his loan spell at Barcelona.
He impressed with the Catalan giants and earned a place in England's World Cup squad as a result.
The 28-year-old made it clear that he was keen to stay at the Camp Nou permanently, but they decided against triggering his buy clause or exploring a move for a smaller fee.
His future remains up in the air, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Turkish giants Fenerbahce want to sign Rashford before the window slams shut.
Trabzonspor's marquee move for Liverpool legend Salah has seen Fener looking to accelerate a move for Rashford in the coming weeks.
Fenerbahce make lofty ambitions clear with Marcus Rashford interest
Rashford helped fire Barca to the La Liga title with 14 goals and 11 assists in 49 games last season.
His future looks dim at Old Trafford due to his wage situation, with Fenerbahce now interested as they feel they can offer a suitable wage package.
They finished three points behind Super Lig winners Galatasaray last season, and are primed to reach the Champions League play-off round in the coming weeks.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Obviously, the big Turkish clubs have got huge transfer ambitions, and they do have the funds to make big signings, as we've seen with Mohamed Salah on his way to Trabzonspor.
"It's been disappointing for Marcus Rashford that the move to Barcelona didn't work out, as that was his number one choice, to make that move permanent.
"His future is up in the air. Ideally, I think Man United would prefer that he moved on, because he's the highest earner at the club now with his wages going up after they qualified for the Champions League."
Man United told chances of signing Iliman Ndiaye amid Saudi links
Rashford's future at United remains uncertain as Carrick looks to bolster his left wing options before the window closes.
Everton star Ndiaye has emerged as a top target for the Red Devils as he is linked away from the Merseyside club this summer.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that United are all but out of the race to sign Ndiaye due to the finances involved.
Al-Hilal have lined up a huge offer to prise him from the Toffees, while Arsenal are the latest club to register an interest after missing out on Vinicius Junior.
