He's finished: Man United star who lost 80% of his duels vs Como should have played his last game
Man United defender Noussair Mazraoui is surely set to leave the club at the earliest opportunity after he was tormented in their Champions League loss to Como.
United's winless run was extended to seven games as they were thrashed 4-1 by Como on Wednesday night.
Their worst run without a victory since 2015 has only increased the pressure on Michael Carrick and his players as a managerial change is touted.
Carrick was forced to put out a depleted backline in Northern Italy due to injury issues, as Matthijs de Ligt featured after 11 months out and Mazraoui started at left-back.
The Moroccan produced a shocking individual display against Como's dynamic attacking forces to surely push him further down Carrick's pecking order at the back.
He has rarely shone for the Red Devils over the last 12 months and such a showing should be the final nail in the coffin for him possibly earning a new contract beyond 2028.
Noussair Mazraoui was not at the races throughout Como defeat
Mazraoui, 28, only played 20 times and started just 11 league games last season as he struggled with persistent injury issues.
He made his fourth start of the campaign against Como on Wednesday, but failed to prove that he should be utilised more often by Carrick.
His performance proved the opposite, if anything, as he only won one of five attempted ground duels, made just one tackle, was dribbled past once and made an error leading to a shot.
Como captain Lucas da Cunha waltzed past Mazraoui to set Nico Paz up for the hosts' opener inside three minutes, while he failed to stop Kayky's cross for Jacobo Ramon to make it 4-0 in the second half.
The 28-year-old only made one progressive carry from full-back and failed to create a chance, while he lost possession a whopping nine times.
It was the most disappointing performance of his season so far, and surely proved that he should not be kept around at Old Trafford for much longer as he approaches the final 18 months of his contract.
Who could United sign to bolster their left-back depth?
Luke Shaw is currently the only established senior left-back in the United squad after their failure to bolster the position in the summer.
They wanted to sign Lewis Hall, but Newcastle have now tied him down to a new contract and he will not be leaving Tyneside anytime soon.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that United are extensively scouting Bournemouth's Adrien Truffert, and he is a top target for left-back for the coming transfer windows.
Barcelona's Alejandro Balde and Aston Villa's Ian Maatsen are also believed to be on their radar, with Mazraoui's future surely heading one way as a result of the ongoing search.
