Luke Shaw can prepare for Man United farewell as Alejandro Balde plan reported - view
Luke Shaw may be coming to the end of his career at Manchester United in the ongoing transfer window.
The England international has been a loyal servant at Old Trafford for the last 12 years, but the Red Devils could be looking for his replacement this summer.
While the 30-year-old returned strongly this season after a tough time with injuries, his persistent fitness issues have been a concern in M16.
Man United have been linked with a move for Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde and it will be interesting to see whether that would leave Shaw.
The Englishman was left out of the Three Lions' 26-man World Cup squad by Thomas Tuchel despite featuring in every Premier League game in the 2025-26 campaign as the Red Devils finished third in the table.
If Balde does move to Old Trafford, he would certainly be coming as the first-choice left-back, which could push the former Southampton defender to leave soon.
Alejandro Balde transfer latest at Manchester United
Balde made his way through Barcelona's acclaimed La Masia and has been a regular in the first team since 2022.
The 22-year-old has shown a lot of potential during his time at the Catalan club, but he has fallen down the pecking order in recent months under Hansi Flick, with Joao Cancelo preferred over him.
According to The i Paper on 26 June, Balde has now emerged as an option to bolster the left-back position at Old Trafford.
Tyrell Malacia is leaving the Red Devils as his contract expires, and with Patrick Dorgu moving further up the pitch under Michael Carrick, reinforcements are needed in M16.
Michael Carrick transfer priority clear at Old Trafford
Sources told Football Insider on 23 June that Man United have midfielder Felix Nmecha on their shortlist, with the Borussia Dortmund star impressing at the World Cup.
Carrick will be without Casemiro next season and Manuel Ugarte doesn't seem to have a future at the Red Devils either, leaving them short of options in the engine room.
It's clear that the Old Trafford hierarchy are prioritising additions in the middle of the park but the left-back position also undoubtedly needs addressing in the coming weeks.
