Man United have two outstanding 'new signings' amid Marcus Rashford training ground reveal

Published on

Marcus Rashford and Youri Tielemans will be excellent additions for Manchester United this season.

That is the opinion of former Everton, Aston Villa and Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The 28-year-old is expected to stay at Old Trafford this summer and feature under Michael Carrick, after Barcelona passed up the £26million option to buy him permanently.

Rashford had looked set to leave Man United permanently and undoubtedly would have if Ruben Amorim remained in charge, but Carrick previously played with the winger and knows him well.

The England international could still leave before the window closes, but, as it stands, looks set for a significant role with the Red Devils.

Journalist Mike Keegan has reported how he has "seriously impressed" United staff with his output on the training ground.

Andrey Santos, Tielemans and Karl Darlow are also new additions to the Man United squad this summer, with Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba potentially set to join them.

Manchester United 'are not the big draw' they once were

There has been plenty of frustration surrounding Man United's transfer window this summer.

The Red Devils were expected to be very busy but have brought in just three players, with one of them being a back-up goalkeeper.

A deal for Baleba is thought to be likely, but there are still outstanding problems in defence and attack for Carrick.

Rashford's return has solved an issue on the left of the attack, however, and his 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions last season suggest that he could be a powerful option.

"They got Rashford back and he isn't a bad player to bring back in the team. So he could be classed as a new signing. Along with Tielemans," King told Football Insider.

"Tielemans will certainly improve United. If he's fit and well, he'll improve United. But will the pressure on him be so immense? They're going to be looking for him to play every game, aren't they? Because he will be instrumental in running that midfield.

"So he must feel that the players that he's got [are good enough]. Although United are not the big draw that they always were, are they?

"When Fergie [Alex Ferguson] was there, players were queued up to go there, weren't they? He's got it round. They finished strong in Champions League football."

Marcus Rashford focused on Man United

There continues to be plenty of focus on Rashford, with many unclear what to expect from his return to Old Trafford.

The winger had become unpopular among some groups of fans during his final months with Man United, but they are expected to welcome him back.

Gary Neville began to discuss the 28-year-old once again on The Overlap podcast this week, before he was shut down by Jamie Carragher.

"Thanks, Jamie. It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day," wrote Rashford on social media.
